The Antonio Caraveo Jazz Project was
formed in late 2018 with the concern of capturing its own
music with elements of various jazz styles, and other world
music, taking advantage of the freedom that improvisation
offers, with influences from the greats of the genre such as
Miles Davis, Horace Silver, Thelonius Monk and Jobim,
guitarists Pat Metheny and John Scofield, Weather Report,
trumpeter Ingrid Jensen, arranger Vince Mendoza and Mexican
pianists Enrique Nery and Eugenio Toussaint among many others,
also from composers like Debussy, JS Bach and Frank Zappa.
They have a first album entitled "Mexican Landscapes" (Sept.
2020) inspired by the nature, peoples and legends of Mexico,
with 7 original songs and an arrangement of the traditional
Mexican song "La Llorona", which is lately used as a reference
for the Day of the Dead Celebration.
They are about to release their second album "Always Brazil"
inspired by the nature and musical tradition and rhythms of
the brother country Brazil.
By 2022 they plan to release a third album about the prescence of traditional Afro-Antillean in the musical culture of Mexico.
